As long as there has been the modern wonder that is the internet, there have been those who find the protection it gives them to lie unresistable. This is not going to change simply because a multibillion dollar company like Apple are being targeted. Indeed, the trust that millions hold in a company name like Apple simply makes them more susceptible to scams, and means that many more people are tricked out of their hard earned cash.
Unfortunately
for you (and us!), scammers are getting more and more professional.
Experts have estimated that thousands, perhaps even tens to hundreds
of thousands have fallen prey to the 'free ipad' adverts that have
cropped up everywhere of late.
If you've seen this ad then you're one of
potentially millions who may have been scammed

If
you've seen or signed up to an ad like this then there's a very good
chance that your phone number details have been used to sign you up
for a premium rate subscription number costing in the region of $10
a month. There are no official figures as to how many people have
fallen victim to this scam.
Some may argue that massive sites like Facebook should have
vetted the ads before placing them. They've certainly been picky
enough about accepting my legitimate adverts in the past *sigh*. Nevertheless, they have now been banned.
However, I personally saw them as recently as a week ago, and I'm
worried that hundreds may still be losing out by responding to
adverts on sites that aren't as scrupulous as FaceBook and Twitter.
This is also potentially (and I believe truly) damaging to
legitimate freebie referral schemes that give out hundreds of
thousands of pounds of gadgets each year, every year.

referral marketing?"
(Well, as soon as it's out in the UK or preorder in the USA!)
